〔記者洪臣宏／高雄報導〕36歲的簡昭漢讀大四時被「二一」（退學），躲在家以淚洗面，轉學義守大學後被選進衛保志工，從此扭轉了人生方向，退伍後加入紅十字會當工讀生，陸續碰上88風災、高雄氣爆、維冠大樓倒塌等重大意外事件，6年後成了紅會全國最年輕的分會總幹事。
36歲的簡昭漢是紅十字會新高雄（前高雄縣）分會總幹事，也是中華民國紅十字會救災隊第3大隊大隊長，擁有緊急救護、潛水等相關證照，97年加入紅十字會時，還是有3個月試用期的工讀生，2年前接掌相關要職，統籌該機構救災任務。
簡昭漢原本就讀某大學建築系，因為好玩被退學，一度惶惶不安，母親鼓勵他重新來過，轉學考考進義守大學「工業工程管理系（現為工業管理系）」，從大2開始唸起，最後念到研究所畢業。
他說，因緣際會加入了義大衛保志工行列，當時學生高達上萬人，但校護人數不足，因而學校全額補助衛保志工學習急救、救護技巧，他也開始投入急救推廣，並成為紅十字會義工。
簡昭漢退伍後曾在路竹的科學園區找到工作，沒多久公司要派他赴中國，為了照顧母親決定放棄、並離職，報名紅十字會工讀生徵選，通過試用期後成為助理，一路當上總幹事。
他說，年輕時懵懵懂懂，突然需用時，才發現以前老師教的很有幫助，「工管系」和紅十字會看似不相干，當物資如雪片般飛來，當年所學「排程」、「專案管理」、「邏輯」等就派上用場了。
